A Space For Flowers documents the landscape of The New Covent Garden Flower Market in 2014.
Vauxhall is undergoing immense change - at the forefront of this are redevelopments on a gigantic scale that are set to dominate the area, both physically and ideologically.
Following the railway sidings on which it was once built, soon it will be the market’s turn to go. The land it stands on now too valuable to hold it.
This work is made to record a piece of the city, an unusual corner. Rich and full of texture at the same time wonderfully expansive and bare, the market’s industrial landscape offers a break from the visual clutter of the city. Largely undecorated, save for the scattered flowers that line it’s floor.
